"Think of watering your plants like your feet..." - Wona
For the past few weeks we have been dropping flowers, foliage and sticks to Charlie and Wona of Loose Leaf Store.
From trading so far, we have filled our house with a new plant, given one to a friend, learnt about air plants (they live off the air!), Wona will weave great things from the willow we traded and have lined up a weaving lesson ourselves.
It's fair to say it's a dynamic relationship. They trust us to come up with new trading ideas and are excited to collaborate on new things. We share plant ideas, watering tips and dinner. We have promised we won't kill our new indoor plant. They have promised they won't kill their outdoor (rooftop) plants. Here are a few hot tips from Wona, re: indoor plant love.
Me: "Can you give me some hot tips for watering your indoor plants?"
Wona: "Think of watering your plants like your feet, in winter you don't want your foot to be too cold or damp so try to keep it dry and in summer it needs to be kept cool - so keep it damp. In winter water them maybe every 2/3 weeks, in summer maybe 2/3 times per week - it really depends on the plant"
Me: "Can you tell me a bit about air plants?"
Wona: "They live off the moisture in the air, so need to be kept moist. You just need to dunk them in water every now and again, more in summer than in winter. If you are going away for a month, you can soak them in water for about an hour before you leave and they should be fine."
